I am a Licensed Master Social Worker who has been providing services to individuals, groups, and communities for over 10 years. I have worked in a variety of settings in New York City including non-profit, public service, education and mental health. As a black woman and therapist I am driven to build awareness, dispel bias and help eliminate negative stereotypes surrounding mental health in the black community.
I am passionate about helping others on their therapeutic journey by creating a safe space to engage in transparent, non-judgmental and honest communication. Through this journey I have helped clients reduce or manage symptoms of stress, grief, anxiety, and depression. I strongly believe that in order to be healthy overall; ones mental, physical and emotional health must align. It is my desire to build a strong therapeutic bond using both a strength based and client centered approach, so that my clients are empowered to be their authentic selves.
One of my greatest inspirations Michelle Obama, described the therapeutic process perfectly in her bestselling memoir Becoming. She wrote “For me, becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously towards a better self”. This is how I see the journey in therapy, by working from a clinical, spiritual and holistic lens, and helping clients reach their desired outcomes and be their best self. Therapy will open the door to self-exploration, discovery, and growth.
