Shawn Deverteuil is a Licensed Master Social Worker from Adelphi University. He has an array of experience working with young and older adults, providing trauma-informed mental health services within nonprofit organizations, and serving on the front lines providing clinical services for community members, organizations, and individuals impacted by violence.
Shawn has worked to increase the knowledge around mental health and the intersectionalities between race, masculinity, systems, violence, trauma, and trauma reactions seen in young boys and young men nationally through presentations, workshops, and conferences. His approach is eclectic, rooted in trauma-focused cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic and humanistic modalities, and he utilizes play and creative arts to serve youth and adults who struggle with trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, relationships, self-esteem and identity, and overall life stressors.
